Terms of Service

By using HanziTest you agree to these terms. In short: the core tools are free forever, Pro is an optional monthly subscription you can cancel at any time, and payments are handled by Creem as merchant of record.

1. The service

HanziTest provides free online tools for testing and practising Chinese character (Hanzi) knowledge, including character recognition tests, vocabulary size estimation and HSK level guidance. The free plan also includes a preview of the HSK course: the first 50 words of each of HSK 1–3, the first two scenario lessons and three grammar points. An optional paid plan, HanziTest Pro, unlocks the full HSK course — all 5,000 words across levels 1–6 with audio, flashcards and level quizzes, every scenario lesson and grammar drill, saved progress with a mistake notebook and spaced-review queue, and CSV export of word lists.

Scores and level estimates are educational estimates. They are not official HSK certification and carry no academic or legal standing.

2. Accounts

Sign-in is optional. If you sign in with Google, you are responsible for keeping access to your Google account. One person may not share a single Pro account with others.

3. Billing and subscriptions

Free plan

The free plan costs nothing and stays free. No payment details are required.

Pro subscription

Pro is billed monthly in advance at the price shown on our Pricing page. The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.

Payment processing

All payments, invoices, sales tax and VAT are handled by Creem, which acts as the merchant of record for HanziTest. Your card details are submitted directly to Creem and are never sent to or stored by us.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time, in three ways: from the Manage Subscription entry in your HanziTest account menu, from the customer portal linked in your purchase receipt email, or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for; you keep Pro access until that date. We do not charge cancellation fees.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled through Creem in accordance with their refund policy. Contact us first and we will help you start the request.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share, resell or publicly distribute Pro-only access or content.
• Attempt to bypass paid features, reverse engineer, or interfere with the site's operation.
• Use automated systems to overload or attack the service.
• Use the service for anything unlawful.
• Use the service to create, transmit or promote harmful content — including any sexually explicit material involving minors, content that sexualises or exploits children in any way, harassment, hate speech, extremist propaganda, or material encouraging violence or self-harm.
• Copy, scrape or redistribute our HSK word lists, lessons or dictionaries as a standalone product or dataset, or use them to build a competing service.

HanziTest is a Chinese-language learning tool: it does not generate images, video or other media, and it has no user-generated content feeds, so there is no public content-moderation queue. All content on the site is produced by us and reviewed before publication. If you believe anything here breaches these rules, email support@hskcharcount.online and we will review and remove it.

We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these rules.

5. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features and pricing may change over time; changes to an active subscription are applied at the next renewal, and we will not silently raise your price.

6. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is" for educational purposes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HanziTest is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

7. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
